Edinburgh is Scotland’s compact, hilly capital. It has a medieval Old Town and elegant Georgian New Town. Edinburgh Castle overlooks the city and is home to Scotland’s Crown Jewels. The Edinburgh Christmas Market takes place in East Princes Garden with lots of food stalls, handcrafted gifts and funfair rides. I went two years ago and had a great time! The flights from Dublin are with Ryanair, leaving on Sunday the 14th of December and returning on Monday the 15th of December. As it’s only for one night, I haven’t added priority with an extra cabin bag and this will cost extra. The hotel is the 4* Moxy Edinburgh Fountainbridge, which is rated 8.5 out of 10 with guests from Booking.com. This property is less than a mile from Edinburgh Castle and is just over a mile from Princes Street, where the Christmas Market is due to take place. The hotel has a bar and fitness centre on site. The rooms are modern in design with free Wi-Fi.
A double or twin room at Moxy Edinburgh Fountainbridge is available for €60 per person for a 1 night stay. This brings the total cost from Dublin to €113 per person and the total cost from Belfast to €135 per person. Both options are based on 2 people sharing.
