Cape Town is a port city on South Africa’s southwest coast, on a peninsula beneath the imposing Table Mountain. Cable cars climb to the mountain top offering breathtaking views of the city. Robben Island, where Nelson Mandela was incarcerated, is a major tourist attraction in Cape Town, which I highly recommend. Cape Town is home to a booming food industry, beautiful beaches and is close to world famous vineyards, about an hour away from the city.
The flights from Dublin are with Air France or KLM and are one stop via Paris CDG or Amsterdam. The flights from Cork have one extra stop on the outbound via Johannesburg.
