Formerly known as the Little Paris of the East, Bucharest is well known for its rejuvenated Old Town with its meandering cobbled laneways. Bucharest is a hit for Irish tourists as it is possible to travel to Transylvania to see Bran Castle, the former residence of the man who inspired Count Dracula, Vlad the Impaler. Hauntingly beautiful it is about two and a half hours from the capital and many tour companies offer day trips to Bran Castle and Peles Castle.
