Budapest is renowned for hosting one of Europe’s best Christmas Markets. Budapest Christmas Fair and Winter Festival usually starts from mid-November to New Year’s Day. It takes place in Vorosmarty Square in the heart of the city and is considered the best Christmas Market in the city. If you get tired of the market, then there are also the hot spring pools at Szechenyi Baths or take a river cruise along the Danube.

The flights from Shannon are with Ryanair, leaving on Monday the 18th of December and returning on Wednesday the 20th of December As it’s only for two nights, I haven’t added priority with an extra cabin bag and this will cost extra. The hotel is the 3* Ibis Budapest Heroes Square, which is rated 7.9 out of 10 with guests from Booking.com. This hotel is located a few feet from Heroes Square, which one of the most important, the largest and most visited areas of Budapest. There is also a metre station a 5 minute walk from the hotel, that will bring you close to the Christmas Market, less than 20 mins door to door. The hotel has a bar on site. The room is exactly what you would expect of an Ibis hotel being clean and comfortable.
A double or twin room at Ibis Budapest Heroes Square is available for €56 per person for a 2 night stay. This brings the total cost from Shannon to €197 per person, which is based on 2 people sharing.
